Ymrwymiad

‘Ymrwymiad’

Exhibited at 2009 National Eisteddfod

Ymrwymiad is a sculptural vessel that brings together a ceramic cast of a human leg bone, model trees and comfrey seeds. The seeds are contained within the cavity of the bone creating a storage devise and cultural signifier. The meaning of this sculptural vessel is intentionally open ended for viewer. My motivation as an
artist & designer is to evoke connection and commitment that exist between the body and the land. For many of us today the links between the land are remote and increasingly virtual. For me I see a direct link between the body and the land, in the case of Ymrwymiad specifically connections to Llandudoch and St.Dogmael.
